Francesco Carrasso
Francesco Carrasso is a visual artist who operates at the intersection of urban energy and natural symbolism. His practice is deeply rooted in the visual language of graffiti, street art, and Hip-Hop, but has evolved into a unique visual language that combines instinctive gestures, figurative elements, and mythical references.
His early fascination with graffiti, which began at the age of thirteen, formed the basis of an artistic approach centred on movement, gesture and expression. Letters, symbols and figures merge in his work to form a visual universe: a layered, contemporary world in which folklore, mythology and urban influences intersect.
Francesco's works are lively and intuitive, with colour and line flowing freely. The hand, especially gestures, plays an essential role in this. As in children's drawings or prehistoric cave paintings, he strives for a direct, unfiltered form of expression. Instead of academic perfection, he seeks the essence of the image, as if it were being perceived and depicted for the first time.
In his recent work, Francesco explores the tension between beauty and decay. With an explosion of colours, spontaneous lines, and tactile surfaces, he explores themes such as transience, rebirth, and the circular power of nature. At first glance, his flower drawings appear lively and expressive, but at the same time bear traces of decay, a visual balance between chaos and control, instinct and composition.
Through his collaboration with artist Chiara Caselli under the alias CCONTINUA+MAMT, Chiara and Francesco push the boundaries of ceramics by incorporating hand-drawn elements, tattoo-like markings, and narrative inscriptions that transform their pieces into vessels of memory and meaning. Their collaborative works reinterpret mythological themes, while others merge human and natural forms into a seamless visual style. Their work exists somewhere in the space between art and design, where material and story, tradition and experiment, come together in a shared act of creation.
